About Us

Our Philosophy

Headway is a Social Enterprise established by David Evans MBE to help provide our children, and those who teach them, with the most up-to-date, sophisticated, high quality and engaging materials possible.

As a Social Enterprise we’re not in it to make money. David established Headway as a way of doing good and putting something back into society. This means any monies raised either go into developing new, exciting programmes schools need or will be donated to children’s charities.

Headway has a simple mantra for schools:

Do Good. Have fun. Raise Funds.

Meet The Team

David Evans MBE

David Evans MBE is a serial Social Entrepreneur. He is the founder of The Grass Roots Group, a company he began in 1980 in a basement office in London which now has offices around the world, employing 1000’s of people.

He is seen as a senior and influential figure in the field of motivation. He has pioneered work in disability awareness, diversity understanding and childcare provision, and in 2006 and 2007 was listed in HR Magazine’s top 100 influencers.

In 2008, David Evans was awarded an MBE for services to corporate social responsibility after pioneering initiatives such as offering work placements to homeless people, providing his local community with a theatre, school facilities and sports, in addition to raising millions for charity.

Ken Pritchard

Ken has had what can only be described as an ‘eclectic’ career. From managing the most watched advert in British history to running his own sandwich shops he’s worked for some of the biggest brand names in the UK. Focusing mainly on marketing and events, Ken has worked in motors, telecoms and exhibitions.

He started his career working for a small agency in Tring run by a maverick entrepreneur called David Evans. Fast forward 35 years and he’s once again working for David – this time as the Ringmaster for Headway! Working for Renault in the 90’s he oversaw the famous “Papa? Nicole?” campaign for twelve years before heading into the frantic world of mobile phones, for Orange and Three. Then, for reasons he can never properly explain (or his wife forgive him for!) he decided to open a couple of Subway sandwich stores. From there he had a spell running some major exhibitions for a publishing house before reuniting with David to help set up another of David’s organisations – Matilda’s Planet.

He’s also written a novel and has another job in his spare time – he operates the Bubbles at his beloved West Ham. Honestly, he does!!!!!

Eva Klute

At the age of 16, Eva moved across the world to embark on a journey of 9 years of international education and work experience in 8 cities and 3 languages that allowed her to identify the path she wants to take both personally and professionally. The journey was by no means a straight one. She started off with a passion for culture, languages and international communications, which led her to Australia, England and Spain.

Growing up in a family of educators and then working in education herself, Eva developed an interest in the possibilities of cultural change and social mobility through education. This initiated her transition from predominantly online marketing roles to a strategic partnerships role in the education sector. It was here, where Eva found great pleasure in building long-lasting partnerships between businesses and young adults. The subsequent Master program in Culture and Society at the LSE helped her to understand our societal structures and opportunities for social mobility. While her attention shifted towards the role of effective philanthropy within our society, she was particularly interested in researching the culture of wealth and philanthropic visions. This is how she met and interviewed David, who just happened to have the perfect job for her!

Eva really doesn’t have a hat face but is currently wearing about five hats at any one time. Typical start-up environment. Eva is responsible for everything from projects to operations. You’ll find her planning, overseeing and documenting the various projects Headway are working on and optimising the processes while they go along – that’s the German efficiency kicking in.
